Veritaaq Continues Its Winning Ways

Announced in February 2010, Veritaaq reclaimed its award as one of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies for the 2009 fiscal year. "In tougher economic times, great management shines," says John Hughes, Deloitte partner, Private Company Services, and national leader of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies Program. "One of the most impressive aspects of this year's award recipients is the commitment by management teams and employees to work in concert to develop innovative ways of tackling their company's strategic issues in the face of a reset world."

Every year, since the launch of the program in 1993, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies have competed for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates their management skills and practices. The awards are granted on three levels:

1. Best Managed winner (one of the 50 new winners selected each year)
2. Re-qualified member (repeat winners retain the Best Managed designation for two additional years, subject to annual operational and financial review)
3. Platinum Club member (winners that maintain Best Managed status for a minimum of six consecutive years).

Winning the award for the 5th time, Veritaaq continues to stand out from other IT consulting firms by emphasizing commitment and dedication throughout its employee base, contributing to excellence and quality each and every day. Veritaaq is adamant in staying committed to its core values of respect, long-term relationships, quality, and openness, which have been major contributors to its overall success.

Teeing Up for a Cause

Teeing Up for a Cause

In partnership with the 8th Annual Women Tee Up For Y Kids Charity Golf Tournament held on June 3rd, 2010 at the Loch March Golf & Country Club, Veritaaq looks to make a difference in the lives of many girls, giving them the opportunity to develop leadership skills, confidence, and memories to cherish for a lifetime.

The Women Tee Up For Y Kids Charity Golf Tournament is an all-women golf tournament which was founded in 2003. Since its inception, $217,000 in charitable funds have been raised to give local girls an opportunity to attend the NCR YMCA-YWCA's Camp Davern. Camp Davern is an all-girls summer residence camp for 6 - 16 year olds set on Lake Davern near Maberly, Ontario. The camp is characterized by choice, adventure, and environmental practices that help develop confidence, and empower young women. All proceeds raised from the Women Tee Up For Y Kids Charity Golf Tournament go directly to giving girls:
- An opportunity to go to camp
- A place to learn leadership skills
- A place to play, belong, and connect

Ottawa, the Nation's Capital, may appear affluent; however there are tens of thousands of families living at or below the poverty line. According to Statistics Canada, 23% of all children in the National Capital Region live in poverty. With such unforeseen poverty numbers in Ottawa region alone, Veritaaq has recognized the opportunity to give back to the community and make a difference in a girl's life. As the title sponsor of this year's Women Tee Up For Y Kids Golf Charity Golf Tournament, Veritaaq looks to take part in positively changing a child's life forever.

To date, the tournament has helped give over 650 girls the magic of a summer camp experience, and this year Veritaaq looks to take a swing at poverty and help young girls achieve what every young child dreams of, the dream of going to summer camp!

Veritaaq Goes Green!

Veritaaq is proud to announce the launch of its new Green Campaign, a multi-phase initiative aimed at transforming its home office into an eco-friendly place of business.

Looking to reduce the company's environmental footprint, the following measures are being made to help improve quality of life in the National Capital Region:

- Establishing internal green policies and programs
- Fostering environmentally friendly habits
- Partnering with like-minded organizations - clients and suppliers alike
- Encouraging eco-responsible habits in the vendor community

Veritaaq recognizes that environmental awareness is an ever present topic and an increasing corporate responsibility - to clients, contractors and future generations. Although becoming a zero-waste organization does not occur over night, becoming an eco-friendly entity, on the other hand, is an increasingly attainable goal. Veritaaq's plan is to continuously decrease its wasteful footprint while augmenting client and contractor services.

Veritaaq's outlook on the environment can be summarized by analyzing the Triple Bottom Line, which considers people, planet and profit. This is a form of management that takes into account the impact of business in terms of social and environmental values coupled with financial returns. Following this line of thought, Veritaaq is kicking off its environmental campaign, and will be continuously improving as it moves forward.

Veritaaq - One of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies for 2008

In its February 2, 2009 edition, The National Post announced VERITAAQ as a year 2008 recipient of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies Program.

"We are honoured to be recognized by such a prestigious program as the 50 Best," says Paul Genier, president. "This award would not have been possible without the commitment and dedication that each of our employees make towards excellence and quality every day," Mr. Genier says.

Veritaaq wants to stand out from other IT consulting firms by emphasizing that it's all about quality as it fills contract and permanent positions for its public and private sector clients. "Our ability to match the right person with the right skills to the right job, and our ability to do it consistently, is what makes Veritaaq unique. We have an extremely rigorous screening process. We meet face to face with every candidate that we put forward for a role. Not every company does that." Besides checking references, Veritaaq likes to put forward candidates who have worked for it in the past. "So we have a real relationship and a level of trust and that we know them," Mr. Genier says.

The winners of the 2008 Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies Award continue to raise the bar for Canadian business. This year's winners generated $6.4 billion in combined revenue, had an average revenue increase of 43% (2006-2009) and employ over 28,000 in Canada. The 50 Best Managed companies, in eight provinces and across a significant number of industries, have shown the ability to maintain sustainable growth amid volatile economic conditions. "These companies are successful today because of their commitment to strong planning, understanding the market and adapting to their customers needs," says John Hughes, Deloitte partner, private company services, and national leader of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies Program. "Even two years ago, these companies were building contingency plans in the event of economic softness."

Canadian entrepreneurs have been successful in competing globally and overcoming many diverse market challenges by being adaptable. "The ability of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies to meet the challenges of a competitive market is a direct reflection of their pursuit of innovation, and their investment in meeting the needs of their clients" said Rick Lunny, Executive Vice-President, CIBC Retail Markets.

Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies continues to be the mark of excellence for Canadian-owned and managed companies with revenues over $10 million. Every year, since the launch of the program in 1993, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies have competed for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates their management skills and practices. The awards are granted on three levels: 1) Best Managed winner (one of the 50 new winners selected each year); 2) Requalified member (repeat winners retain the Best Managed designation for two additional years, subject to annual operational and financial review); 3) Platinum Club member (winners that maintain Best Managed status for a minimum of six consecutive years). Program sponsors are Deloitte, CIBC Commercial Banking, National Post, and Queen's School of Business.
